A global finance firm is seeking a bilingual application support and production system support engineer for their local team responsible for providing IT support for Middle and Back Office applications (local& global applications) for Operations users based in Japan as well as globally.


The successful candidate will able to interact with team members in English and also have sufficient Japanese language skills to support Japan based applications / user groups.  



- Function as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the capacity of Production Services Team member based in Tokyo for applications utilized by Global and Japan Operations especially collateral management systems.

- Managing all user issues to completion, escalating to developers or other IT teams as per required.

- Provide regular and accurate updates to Global and Japan operations during issues / outages

- Manage incidents as per the Production Services defined guidelines.

- Ensure critical system uptime with timely checks and RTB support.

- Proactively suggest ways to improve support service levels

- Maintain strong relationships with Production Services teams in other regions and function as part of the global support structure

- Maintain strong relationships with Operations users in Japan.

- Ensure all support cards / documentation is maintained and updated

- Participate in the rollout of global support procedures within Japan

- Suggest and generate useful regular metrics / reports for global review and consumption

Shifts: 7am-4:10pm or 8am-5:10 pm JST on most days. (Rotational coverage for weekends & holidays, once every 2 months)

Required Skills

- Experience in application or production system support

- Oracle / MSSQL / Sybase / DB2 Database knowledge

- SQL Scripting, Querying, Debugging, Stored Procedures

- UNIX/LINUX skills including (optional) Unix or Perl Scripting

- Application support experience for Java/Windows applications.

- Job scheduling technologies (mainly Autosys)

- A proven track record providing application support as an SME.

- An understanding of the general functions performed by Operations in a global investment bank

- Ability to quickly acquire new technical skills and knowledge required for role.

- Experience in communicating with audiences with varying technical expertise and levels of seniority.
