A Global IT Service is looking for a DevOps Engineer  for its Cloud Services Department.

Responsibilities:
- Hardware Troubleshooting & Investigation: Conduct in-depth diagnosis, investigation, and resolution of complex hardware issues on bare metal servers (e.g., CPUs, RAM, storage, network cards, power supplies). This includes identifying intermittent faults and performing systematic component-level analysis.
- Failed Server Installation Investigation: Perform detailed analysis and troubleshooting of failed operating system installations (Linux preferred) and initial server configurations, identifying underlying causes from logs, system states, and configuration data
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead and document comprehensive root cause analyses for recurring hardware and installation failures, collaborating with other teams to implement preventative measures and long-term solutions
- Configuration Management Error Investigation: Utilize basic development skills (Ruby and/or Python) to read, understand, and investigate errors within our existing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management toolsets, aiding in debugging and identifying areas for minor fixes or improvements
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain precise and comprehensive technical documentation, including troubleshooting guides, common issue resolutions, server configuration details, and incident post-mortems
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Network, and Development teams to share insights, resolve inter-dependencies, and contribute to overall infrastructure stability

Required skills:
- Extensive Server Hardware Expertise: Proven hands-on experience in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and replacing components in enterprise-grade server hardware
- Advanced Linux OS Proficiency: Deep understanding and extensive experience with various Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian), including advanced command-line tools for system diagnostics, performance analysis, and log interpretation
- Bare Metal Provisioning & Installation: In-depth experience with bare metal server provisioning processes and a strong understanding of operating system installation methodologies, including common failure modes and recovery techniques
- Superior Problem-Solving & Analytical Abilities: Demonstrated exceptional ability to systematically approach and solve complex, ambiguous technical problems, identifying subtle symptoms and isolating root causes
- Investigation Acumen: Strong capability to interpret complex logs, system metrics, network traces, and diagnostic outputs to precisely pinpoint the origin of issues
- Ruby: Ability to read and understand existing Ruby code, particularly in the context of configuration management scripts or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates
- Python: Ability to read and understand existing Python code, particularly in the context of configuration management scripts or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates
- Communication & Documentation: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, and meticulous attention to detail in technical documentation
