Description
A world’s leading Insurance service provider is looking for an IBM Mainframe Infrastructure Specialist. The ideal candidate is a senior IBM Mainframe Infrastructure Specialist with extensive experience supporting enterprise IBM z/OS environments. They should possess strong troubleshooting skills, infrastructure expertise, and the ability to lead technical discussions across multiple vendors and internal teams. The role consists of approximately 70–80% technical infrastructure support and troubleshooting and 20–30% project management and technical coordination.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for IBM Mainframe infrastructurerelated issues raised by application development teams
- Act as the primary technical bridge between application development vendors and infrastructure vendors to resolve complex infrastructure and platform issues
- Support IBM Mainframe infrastructure setup, configuration, maintenance, and operational activities
- Troubleshoot production issues involving IBM z/OS and associated middleware technologies
- Analyze infrastructure problems and perform root cause analysis to improve platform stability
- Design and support hybrid architectures integrating IBM Mainframe environments with Open Systems platforms
- Support enterprise API integration initiatives utilizing z/OS Connect and related IBM technologies
- Review infrastructure designs and provide technical recommendations for modernization initiatives
- Coordinate technical activities across infrastructure, application development, middleware, networking, and security teams
- Provide technical leadership during enterprise transformation and migration projects
- Support infrastructure planning, implementation, testing, and production deployments
- Track project risks, issues, technical dependencies, and milestones while working with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, implementation plans, and operational procedures
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for IBM Mainframe infrastructure services
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 8+ years of experience delivering enterprise IT solutions
- Strong expertise in IBM Mainframe technologies, including IBM z/OS, z/OS Connect, CICS, IBM MQ, IMS DB, and the broader z/OS ecosystem
- Extensive experience in IBM Mainframe infrastructure administration, including system setup, configuration, production support, troubleshooting, and performance analysis
- Proven ability to design hybrid architectures integrating IBM Mainframe and Open Systems, with expertise in API architecture, REST API integration, and z/OS Connect implementation
- Hands-on experience with enterprise integration technologies, infrastructure migration, incident management, and problem management to ensure high availability and operational stability
- Demonstrated technical leadership in large-scale enterprise infrastructure transformation and migration projects, including vendor management and cross-functional stakeholder coordination
- Strong project management and architecture review capabilities, ensuring infrastructure solutions align with business objectives, enterprise standards, and operational best practices
