Description
A Global IT Service firm is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to join the Catalog Management Section within the Data Knowledge Department.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable APIs and backend services that power the data platform.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs that serve internal and external consumers
- Build scalable backend services on GCP and on-premise infrastructure to support data pipelines and AI model integrations
- Collaborate with data scientists to productionize ML models and integrate them into platform services
- Own the reliability and performance of services, conducting code reviews and driving engineering best practices
- Work with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Required skills:
- Professional Experience: 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend/API development
- Programming: Proficiency in at least one programming language for building production APIs and services. Experience with Python (FastAPI, Flask) or equivalent backend frameworks is a plus
- GCP: Hands-on experience designing and operating scalable systems on GCP (e.g., Cloud Run, GKE, BigQuery, Pub/Sub)
- API Design: Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles
- Scalability & Reliability: Demonstrated experience building distributed systems that handle high throughput and large data volumes
- Software Engineering Practices: Proficiency with Git, code review processes, automated testing (unit/integration), and CI/CD pipelines
- Logical Thinking: Ability to break down complex technical problems and propose solutions with clear trade-offs between cost, performance, and maintainability
- Communication: Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders, and collaborate effectively across teams
