Description
A Global IT Service firm is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer. As a Platform Engineer, you will design and evolve the foundational platforms that enable product teams to build, test, and operate services faster and more reliably. Your core mission is to reduce toil across development teams by delivering self-service platforms, golden paths, and standardized tooling — with a strong focus on developer experience. You will apply platform product thinking: treating internal developer tools as products with real customers (the product teams).
Responsibilities:
- Platform Product Development: Design, build, and maintain internal platforms including CI/CD pipelines, IaC templates, and data/observability tooling (Airflow, ELK, MonaaS, FDP). Treat these as products with roadmaps, SLOs, and release cycles
- Internal Developer Platform (IDP): Architect and maintain an IDP that consolidates golden paths, templates, and documentation — enabling product teams to self-serve with minimal platform team involvement
- Infrastructure as Code: Create and maintain reusable IaC templates to allow product teams to provision testing and production environments rapidly and consistently
- CI/CD Standardization: Design scalable, opinionated CI/CD pipeline templates that product teams can adopt with minimal lead time. Drive migration to GitHub Enterprise
- Cloud Migration: Lead and support migration of services to Public Cloud (GCP etc.), with attention to cost-efficiency and resilience
- Developer Experience & Self-Service: Work directly with product teams to understand pain points, remove friction, and continuously improve the platform experience. Run periodic surveys (NPS/feedback loops) to measure and act on developer satisfaction
- Observability & Engineering Health: Build dashboards and alerting covering DORA Core Metrics, Value Stream metrics, SLO indicators, and business KPIs to give the organization visibility into engineering health
- AI & Automation: Identify and automate repetitive development lifecycle tasks using AI agents. Establish AI-native guardrails and tooling to reduce common pitfalls (scheduling failure, quality regressions, security incidents)
- Test/QA improvement: Contribute to automated regression and performance test platforms integrated into the CI/CD pipeline
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in Kubernetes (design, deployment, scaling, and maintenance)
- Hands-on experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar) in production environments
- Strong experience with the operation of Unix/Linux-based computing systems
- Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc.)
- Strong experience constructing and maintaining system monitoring environments (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack etc.)
- Experience deploying and operating services on public cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure etc.)
- Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, Shell, or similar) for operational tooling
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; able to translate developer pain points into actionable platform improvements
