Description
A Global IT Service firm is seeking DevOps Engineers to join the Ad Product Platform team.
This role focuses on building, operating, and scaling highly available, high-traffic production systems that support Rakuten’s advertising products, which are accessed by millions of users every day.
You will take end-to-end ownership of infrastructure, automation, and production operations, while continuously improving system reliability, performance, and delivery speed across Rakuten’s global ad ecosystem.
As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for the reliability, scalability, and automation of production and non-production environments throughout the full product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Owning end-to-end system operations, including deployment, release management, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Ensuring high availability, performance, and stability of large-scale production systems
- Designing, implementing, and operating CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and Git
- Driving automation of operational tasks using Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Docker, Kubernetes, and related technologies
- Managing hybrid infrastructure environments spanning GCP and on‑premise systems
- Improving system observability by enhancing monitoring, alerting, logging, and metrics platforms
- Responding proactively to production incidents with a strong service ownership mindset
- Identifying operational risks and continuously improving reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency
- Proposing and adopting new tools, technologies, and best practices across development, testing, and production operations
- Actively leveraging automation and AI tools to improve productivity and quality
- Collaborating closely with developers, product managers, project managers, QA, security teams, and global stakeholders across Japan, Singapore, India, and China
- Providing technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior DevOps / System Engineers
Required skills:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer / SRE / System Engineer, operating high-traffic production systems independently
- Strong experience in troubleshooting infrastructure, middleware, and large-scale distributed systems
- Solid experience managing hybrid architectures, including GCP and on‑premise workloads
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, with hands-on experience using Jenkins, Git, and related tools
- Proven hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Chef, and production-grade automation
- Demonstrated experience implementing automation using industry best practices with safety and reliability in mind
- Strong operational experience with Linux systems and advanced command-line skills
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell, Python, Perl, or similar
- Experience with system and application monitoring, alerting, and incident response
- Solid understanding of web applications and protocols, including HTTP, security standards, and RFCs
- Ability to identify operational process gaps and recommend improvements based on industry standards
- Willingness and flexibility to support non-business hour emergency response based on business needs
