A leading global technology company is looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join its newly established IT organization supporting company-wide IT strategy, system development, and digital transformation initiatives. The team works closely with business departments to identify operational challenges and develop solutions from the planning stage through requirements definition, system design, development, and implementation.
This is an opportunity to work on a wide range of internal business applications and contribute to AI-driven initiatives aimed at improving business efficiency. As the organization continues to expand, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to take on an important leadership role in the future.
Responsibilities
- Plan and develop systems to address business and operational challenges across the organization
- Define requirements, design applications, develop solutions, and support implementation
- Develop and enhance business applications using technologies such as Java, Python, and JavaScript
- Participate in the full development lifecycle from upstream planning through downstream implementation
- Translate business requirements and challenges into effective technical solutions
- Create and improve business processes in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors throughout development projects
- Identify issues proactively and drive solutions to completion
- Contribute to internal AI utilization initiatives and AI-related application development
- Support system improvements and digital transformation initiatives across the organization
- Take on future leadership responsibilities as the development organization grows
Required Skills
- 5+ years of hands-on application development experience using Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar technologies
- Experience in application or system design
- Experience developing and implementing IT systems
- Ability to participate in the full development lifecycle, from requirements definition through implementation
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving business and technical issues
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors

Work Location: Tokyo
Work Style: Hybrid, generally 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home
Working Hours: 9:00–17:30, Monday–Friday
Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, year-end/New Year holidays, paid leave, and other special holidays
