Executive recruitment company  Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia  is recruiting on behalf of a leading Local Conglomerate Coal Mining Company for the role of Head of Legal. The position will be based in  Jakarta Indonesia .

Job Descriptions : 
Legal Strategy & Advisory

• Act as chief legal advisor to the Board of Directors and senior management on all legal matters
• Provide legal guidance to support business strategy, investment decisions, and operational activities
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across the group

• Ensure full compliance with Indonesian mining laws and regulations , including:
  • Mining licenses (IUP, IUPK, RKAB, PPKH, IPPKH)
  • Environmental regulations (AMDAL, reclamation & post-mining obligations)
  • Energy and mineral resources regulations
• Liaise with government authorities and regulators (ESDM, KLHK, BKPM, local governments)

• Oversee corporate governance , shareholder matters, and group structuring
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts , including:
  • Mining services
  • EPC and infrastructure
  • Offtake and coal sales agreements
  • Logistics and transportation contracts
  • Joint ventures and strategic partnerships
• Support M&A, asset acquisition/divestment , and financing transactions

• Manage litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution , including land disputes and community-related issues
• Coordinate and supervise external legal counsel
• Develop strategies to minimize litigation exposure and financial impact

• Handle land acquisition, land status, compensation, and community relations legal matters
• Support management in resolving social, community, and local stakeholder disputes
• Ensure legal compliance in CSR and community development programs

• Lead and develop the in-house legal team
• Establish legal policies, SOPs, and contract management systems
• Ensure effective legal documentation, reporting, and governance standards

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (SH)
• Advocate License (PERADI) strongly preferred
• Master’s degree in Law or Business Law is an advantage

• Minimum 12–15 years of legal experience , with significant exposure to:
  • Mining, energy, or natural resources industry
  • In-house legal roles within conglomerates or large local companies
• Proven experience handling:
  • Mining permits and regulatory compliance
  • Government relations and regulatory authorities
  • Complex commercial contracts and disputes
