Infrastructure Architect / Network Engineer
FWD Japan is seeking an Infrastructure Architect / Network Engineer to support the design, operation, and improvement of its enterprise infrastructure, network, and hybrid cloud environment.
This role sits within the Technical Services Department and focuses on infrastructure architecture, network operations, system stability, Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, and continuous improvement of FWD’s internal and external system platforms.
The successful candidate will combine strong network and infrastructure operations experience with the ability to work closely with internal IT teams, FWD Group stakeholders, and external vendors.
Because the role involves local infrastructure operations in Japan and coordination with FWD Group offices, language skills are important, especially Japanese and English.
Responsibilities
• Act as an Infrastructure Architect across network and infrastructure domains
• Support overall infrastructure design, operational improvement, and stable system operations
• Collaborate with FWD Group IT teams and support group-led infrastructure projects
• Evaluate and utilize new technologies to improve system stability and prevent incidents
• Participate in new system implementation and infrastructure build projects from an infrastructure perspective
• Support BAU operations, including system platform maintenance, stable operations, audit support, vendor contract management, and resource management
• Drive improvement initiatives related to vulnerability management, security enhancement, incident prevention, and traffic control
• Support FWD’s hybrid infrastructure environment, including Microsoft Azure and on-premise data center connectivity
• Work closely with internal application development teams, FWD Group office in Hong Kong, and external vendors / partners
Required Skills / Experience
• 3+ years of IT operations experience
• Experience building and operating network environments
• Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, network, or system operations
• Strong understanding of infrastructure operations, maintenance, and system stability
• Ability to coordinate with internal teams, regional stakeholders, and external vendors
• Experience in the financial services or insurance industry is preferred
• Experience with hybrid cloud and on-premise infrastructure environments is preferred
Preferred Skills / Experience
• Infrastructure knowledge across network, server, and enterprise systems
• Telephony experience, especially Cisco or Avaya
• Microsoft Azure knowledge, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS
• Security-related knowledge
• Experience with incident prevention, vulnerability management, or infrastructure improvement initiatives
Language Requirements
• Japanese: JLPT N1 / native-level Japanese required
• English: Conversational level required
