A global automotive and manufacturing firm is looking for an experienced IT Project Manager / Solution Architect (Manufacturing IT Systems) to lead the modernization and replacement of critical Bill of Materials (BoM) systems supporting truck production as part of its ongoing digital transformation. Working within the IT organization, you will act as a bridge between production business teams, internal IT, external vendors, and group companies. You will support the replacement of the current production BoM system while driving system enhancements, process improvements, data architecture, and integration across the manufacturing IT landscape.
Responsibilities:
- Define IT strategy, architecture, and implementation plans for BoM-related systems and processes
- Lead solution architecture for the replacement of the existing production BoM system
- Design system enhancements covering BoM processes, workflows, integrations, and data flows
- Analyze existing systems and business requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions
- Support system and data model design, including environments involving SAP HANA
- Lead IT projects from requirements gathering and solution design through implementation and delivery
- Manage projects ranging from smaller initiatives to large-scale programs exceeding JPY 500 million
- Coordinate project scope, timelines, risks, dependencies, and technical deliverables
- Provide progress reporting and communicate project status to relevant stakeholders
- Lead project teams and ensure delivery remains aligned with business objectives
- Work closely with production departments to understand business requirements and translate them into IT solutions
- Coordinate system development and operations with external IT vendors and group companies
- Manage vendors responsible for application development, implementation, and ongoing operations
- Act as the key interface between business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and global counterparts
- Investigate existing systems, document user requirements, and identify improvement opportunities
- Oversee implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of system issues
- Monitor systems to ensure stable and efficient operation
- Provide technical guidance for ongoing system maintenance and continuous improvement
Required Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in IT project leadership, project management, solution architecture, or enterprise system delivery
- Strong experience with system design, data architecture, and data modeling
- Experience working with SAP HANA or SAP-related enterprise systems
- Experience managing IT vendors and external development/operations partners
- Experience delivering or supporting enterprise application development and system implementation projects
- Knowledge of programming technologies such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or Scala
- Experience with manufacturing IT systems, BoM, PLM, production, or automotive environments is strongly preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and project leadership skills
