A ML & AI start-up is seeking an experienced AI Engineer (with focus on Satellite Imagery). As an AI/ML engineer, you will be at the forefront of innovation, working with clients to understand their unique business challenges and design tailor-made AI/ML solutions that address their specific needs. Develop proof-of-concept (PoC) projects that demonstrate the true potential of AI/ML solutions to solve real-world challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement AI algorithms for processing satellite imagery across various environmental applications, with initial focus on forest biomass and carbon sequestration assessment
- We will create innovative solutions using multispectral, SAR, and other remote sensing data to analyze environmental changes and patterns
- We will design and build scalable geospatial data processing pipelines that can adapt to different satellite imagery sources
- Conduct time-series analysis to monitor environmental changes, including deforestation, afforestation, and land use transitions
- Integrate diverse data sources (satellite imagery, LiDAR, field measurements) to enhance model accuracy and validation
- Generate interactive maps, visualizations, and analytical reports that communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, environmental scientists, and domain experts to refine methodologies and validate results
- Stay current with advancements in remote sensing technologies, machine learning applications, and carbon accounting methodologies
Requirements:
- 3+ years’ experience as an ML engineer with a strong AI/ML development and deployment background
- Experience with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and their variants (e.g., U-Net, Mask R-CNN, DeepLab) for tasks like land cover classification, object detection in satellite imagery (e.g. buildings, roads, ships), and semantic segmentation
- Familiarity with other relevant architectures like Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) or Transformers for temporal analysis of satellite imagery (e.g., change detection)
- Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch or Keras
- Solid knowledge of programming languages such as Python and C++
- To have trained and evaluated multiple AI model types
- Experience in image processing or time series data AI/ML analysis
- University degree in related field (e.g Computer Science, Engineering etc)
