A global finance firm seeks an experienced Application Support engineer to act as the Tokyo based Subject Matter Expert for Operations and Transaction Services applications used by Japan and Global Operations users.
The successful candidate will be part of the Production Management team responsible for providing IT support for Middle and Back Office applications.
‐ Function as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) in Tokyo for all the Operations and Transaction Services applications used by Japan and Global Operations users.
‐ Manage all user issues to completion, escalating to developers or other IT teams as required.
‐ Provide regular and accurate updates to Japan and Global operations during issues / outages.
‐ Manage incidents as per the Production Services defined guidelines and handbook.
‐ Proactively suggest ways to improve support service levels.
‐ Maintain strong relationships with Production Management teams in other regions and function as part of the global support structure.
‐ Maintain strong relationships with Operations users in Japan and other regions.
‐ Ensure all support cards / documentation is maintained and updated when required.
‐ Partake in the rollout of global support procedures within Japan.
‐ Suggest and generate useful regular metrics / reports for global review and consumption.
‐ Ensure Weekend batches and Releases are supported as and when required.
‐ To attend and provide accurate status reports in the global IT and business check point calls.

1. Relevant experience in established enterprise environments
2. Strong experience using the following technologies:
‐ RDBMS – Sybase / Oracle preferred.
‐ SQL Querying, Debugging,
‐ UNIX/LINUX skills including UNIX or Perl Scripting (optional).
‐ Familiarity with Job scheduling technologies like Autosys.
‐ Familiarity with messaging technology like IBM MQ, Tibco EMS, Swift, Business Works etc.
3. Ability to quickly acquire new technical, functional skills and knowledge required for the role
4. A proven track record providing application support as an SME, in the Global Markets environment
5. An understanding of the general functions performed by Operations for a global investment bank
6. Experience in communicating with audiences with varying technical expertise and levels of seniority.
‐ Prior experience in settlement and payment systems, like Gloss and SWIFT highly advantageous
