A large global life insurance companies is hiring a Senior Network Engineer. This role covers network architecture, design, and creating custom network technology solutions for the new company network covering on-premise mainframe, and public Cloud, as part of our Infrastructure Migration Program. It also covers delivery of network designs for perimeter projects and acting as Tier 3 support on projects and daily operations.
The Senior Network Engineer will have expertise in the design, installation, and maintenance of a large global network for a multi-national enterprise. You will be responsible for developing and documenting design standards, installation packages, and support packages for data center networks build and migration.
You will provide local leadership for network standards and create design artifacts for data center, campus, branch office, and network services. You the senior network engineer will also lead and contribute to the installation of specified designs and must be able to troubleshoot highly complex data, network problems.
Candidates must be hands-on, pragmatic, down-to-the-earth, with can-do mentality. It is a tough position, only suitable to candidates who like challenge; it is a mission, not a job.
The organization structure is flat. This position does not have any direct-reports, but has teamwork. Experience in Agile/Scrum or DevOps environment has obvious advantages.
‐Provide network infrastructure leadership and expertise across data network services.
‐Lead the new datacenter and public cloud network build and migration.
‐Work on the Network Security Standards and Best Practice Documents.
‐Contribute to the development of standards, procedures, best practices and business processes.
‐Deliver regular reports citing metrics on network service.
‐Contribute to creating and reviewing RFP responses involving network services.
‐Create, maintain and review documentation.
‐Experience working as a senior network engineer at a large, multinational corporation
Expert level understanding of:
‐LAN, MAN, and WAN architectures and the design, installation, and operation of globalmulti-national networks
‐Internetwork protocols like BGP, OSPF, MPLS, ISIS and Quality of Service
‐L2 protocols like STP, VSTP, MSTP, LACP
‐Internetworking troubleshooting in a large-scale network environment
‐Inter-AS connectivity (eBGP, MPLS)
In-depth understanding of:
‐WAN experience covering SONET, OCx, DSx, Ethernet Privet Line (EPL), DSL/HSDSL and MPLS
‐L4-L7, specifically as it relates to the configuration of local and global load balancing
‐DNS and DHCP
‐Network management, network availability and capacity planning
Solid understanding of:
‐Common network and system attack methods
‐Security best practices
‐New data center bridging technologies and unified fabrics
‐Software defined network and virtual network
‐Enterprise cloud architecture
‐Designing complex, highly available, infrastructure solutions in a large-scale, multisite, international environment
‐Expertise in interfacing with carriers to manage circuit delivery, troubleshooting and migration
‐Adept at training and mentoring other team members
‐Must be able to demonstrate the ability to capture and analyze requirements, design a solution, create network configurations based on the proposed design, provide Tier 3 support, and innovate
‐Must be able to develop procedural documentation
‐Have the ability to connect new technology initiatives to cost savings and ROI calculations
‐Team or project management experience
‐BS degree in EE, CS, Maths or Physics, or equivalent work experience
‐CCNP or CCIE qualification
‐Extensive UNIX experience
