A global tech firm is hiring a software development engineer to create feature innovations to improve shopping experience with particular focus on the challenges for Japanese customers.


As a Software Development Engineer, you will help solve a variety of technical challenges and work with a team of extremely talented engineers. Given that this is an early-stage initiative, you will play an active role in translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and build quick prototypes or proofs of concept.


You will help invent new features, design systems, develop and deploy highly scalable and reliable distributed services. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and given the size of this initiative, you’ll have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams. You should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that’s higher than most projects and relish the idea of solving problems that, frankly, haven’t been solved at scale before. Along the way, we guarantee that you’ll learn a ton, have fun and make a positive impact on millions of customers. 

Required Skills

‐Software development experience
‐Experience developing web services or applications
‐Experience defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility trade-offs
‐Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C#, C++

Preferred Skills

‐Strong sense of ownership, bias for action, urgency, and drive
‐Knowledge and experience in large scale system design, distributed computing, system integration, and setting up services
‐Knowledge and experience in building customer facing application
‐Familiarity with front end development (HTML/CSS/JS) is a plus
‐Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
‐Experience using AWS (DynamoDB, Kinesis, Redshift, etc.)
‐Excellence in technical communication with peers and non-technical cohorts
