A global life insurance company is seeking a Senior AS400 Systems Engineer to join their Service Delivery Division. This division is a part of the the Infrastructure Area, which is in charge of the Infrastructure Migration Program covering the full infrastructure of the company, targeting to complete by 2020.

The Senior Engineer will be playing a leading role in the following project under this program:

‐AS400 core application relocation project, from current data center to a new data center; which includes a big DB2 database migration, and various internal/external connectivities.

The Senior AS400 Systems Engineer will be primarily responsible for the maintenance and administration of the IBM iSeries AS400 (servers, multiple partitions), including message handling, command line utilities, work management, job and print control, device management, system configuration, system security, backup and restore, file transfer integration and PTF management. AS400 Hardware and Software life cycle management.


‐Lead and drive AS400 overall migration planning discussion with other stakeholders.

‐Create AS400/Host System architectural and operational design based on SLA.

‐Oversee and manage daily administration of IBM iSeries computer hardware and software.

‐Oversee and manage installation, configuration and maintenance of IBM iSeries hardware, software, network devices, journaling, and IBM iAccess software.

‐Develop, document and maintain procedures for system utilities such as backup/restore, performance tuning and configuration of environments as well as incremental backups as required.

‐Load and test operating system, application software releases and fixes in both development/test and production environments.

‐Load application software patches; performance and file tuning utilities.

‐Document and implement application-specific security groups and classes.

‐Provide cross-training for other AS400 team members in IBM i administrative skills.

Required Skills

‐Hands-on experience supporting IBM iSeries in a corporate environment

‐Experience in architectural and operational design for the IBM AS400/Host system based on SLA

‐Demonstrated leadership skills and progressive career growth

‐Experience managing direct reports, team outcomes and performance

‐Experience managing system lifecycle projects for IBM AS400/Host systems (e.g. OS upgrade batch operations automation)

‐Direct experience managing IT operations with IBM AS400 in a 24x7 environment, especially in the financial industry

‐Hands-on expertise managing, supporting and troubleshooting IBM AS400 environments

Preferred Skills

‐Professional work experience in the financial service industry

‐IT operational knowledge for Life/J, Life/Asia or life insurance policy admin system running on AS400

‐Experience in effectively managing relationships with internal business partners and IT service providers (internal and external)

‐Experience managing complex and global enterprise-level vendor engagement from initiation, implementation and lifecycle management

‐Ability to drive vendor performance and evolving services to meet company’s strategies and goals

‐Experience working with members/vendors located in English-speaking countries
