A large life insurance company with a global presence is currently hiring a Senior Oracle/SQL Server DBA. The Senior Oracle/SQL Server DBA will be responsible for designing and optimizing the database infrastructure landscape to meet defined business needs, focusing on specific technology and implementing the best solutions.

The company is running an Infrastructure Migration Program covering the full infrastructure of the company. The DBA will be playing a leading role in the following project under this program:

Oracle transition project to SQL database in Azure Cloud, in collaboration with the Application support team under another division.


‐DB tuning (Oracle, SQL)

‐Ensuring adequate level of monitoring is activated on all databases

‐Creating and maintaining dashboard to identify in advance problems (processes getting slower, impact of a new application on existing process, etc.)

‐Analyzing existing performances to find potential improvements

‐Working with project teams to assess impacts and performances of new software/packages

‐Development of database

‐Validating new projects from a database prospective Implement test strategies:

‐Preparing test environments with meaningful information

‐Implementing re-usable and automated tests

‐Designing and running benchmarks for sensitive application

‐Database management on both physical and cloud servers

‐Confirming and maintaining capacity planning for existing databases

‐Working with project teams for new databases implementation

‐Backup/recovery strategies built and tested

‐BCP/DR support

‐Produce detailed database components specifications and designs for implementation using selected products.

‐Prepare technical plans, cooperate with business and project staff to ensure that appropriate technical resources are made available.

‐Specify and document security and business requirements as directed, ensuring traceability back to source.

‐Advise database designers and other application development team members on the details of data structures and associated components.

‐Evaluate potential database solutions, techniques, run features and tools demonstrations, install and commission selected products.

‐Design, code, test, correct, and document moderately complex programs and scripts from agreed specifications and subsequent iterations, using agreed standards and tools.

Required Skills

‐Experience in data modeling, data warehousing, data entity analysis, logical and relational database design, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

‐Understanding of normalization/Normal forms.

‐Ability to write stored procedures (T-SQL, PL/SQL, or other major procedural DB language)

‐Operating System skills in Windows Server, Linux

‐Experience with cloud PaaS tools, preferably Azure SQL Database

‐Experience in designing strategic solutions to increase value of SQL Databases, in the areas of scalability, speed, and performance

‐Advanced in Oracle 11g-12c (Enterprise & Standard editions)

‐Advanced in database administration, backup and monitoring tools: Oracle OEM Cloud Control, SQL Server Management Studio, Microsoft SCOM, EMC Networker, etc.

‐Advanced knowledge in database infrastructure on premise and in Cloud (Azure or AWS)

‐Team or project management experience

Preferred Skills

‐Professional work experience in Financial Services industry

‐Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
